Product classification

Product classification helps organise items in your catalogue so they’re easier for customers to find. Using standardised classifications can also improve your products’ visibility and positioning on Unite.

Important: Some Unite customers use classification systems (such as ECLASS or UNSPSC) to include or exclude specific product categories in their search results. If your products aren’t classified correctly, they may not appear for those customers.

Supported classification systems on Unite

  • ECLASS: An internationally recognised standard for classifying and describing products and services. It supports consistent product data exchange between suppliers and customers.

  • UNSPSC: An international classification system designed for standardised categorisation and identification of products and services.

  • ETIM: A globally standardised classification system developed for the electrical engineering sector. It supports structured product information exchange and e-commerce use cases.
